Children have had a particularly tough time this year. The pandemic has disrupted their routines beyond all recognition. Many have also found themselves exposed and vulnerable without their normal support networks.
Magnus C of E Academy are always the epitome of their vision, mission and core values. Guided by their Church of England ethos, they aim to develop people of good character who achieve excellence and make a positive contribution to their communities. An ethos where people always come first and welfare stands before all else.
It is perhaps therefore not surprising that the school team were never going to let an international pandemic come between them and providing their students with pastoral care and continuing access to education. The school's leadership team quickly established the ambition to continue as effectively as possible. Students and staff quickly united using their personal integrity and determination to continue, even where this meant using unfamiliar technology to continue online.
Always humble, never looking for reward, students and staff continue to operate with compassion for each other and their local community. Staff and students are routinely seen respecting bubbles, social distancing and wearing masks both in and out of school. High levels of student contact have been maintained throughout the year, food provided for those in need and very low levels of transmission have been maintained within a school where student feel safe.
We understand how much effort this must have taken from everyone involved. We thought you all deserved a treat on us!
