Energy Performance Certificates are available in two forms:

• Domestic – These certificates are for single dwellings, i.e. the main residence of a single household.  Typically this would include a flat, bungalow, house, terrace property or maisonette etc.  It does not included properties whose primary use is non-domestic e.g. student halls of residence, hostels, hotels etc.  For further information about Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) click here.
• Non-Domestic – These certificates are for everything else.  This would include a shop, restaurant, school, college, university, factory, office block, medical centre, hospital, farm building, workshop, train station, airport, leisure centre etc.  It also includes residential properties whose primary use is non-domestic e.g. student halls of residence, hostels, hotels etc.  For further information about Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) click here.
