Are your heating costs literally going through the roof? Check to ensure you have 250-270 mm of loose roll loft insulation and top up if necessary.

Make the most of your oven. Filling an oven and batch cooking meals can save energy and money. If you share your home with others, planning meals and eating collectively can help build relationships whilst saving both energy and money.

Check the programmer on your heating and hot water to make sure the timings match your needs. If you don’t have a seven-day programmer fitted consider getting one.

Switch off radiators in any rooms you are not using regularly and keep internal doors shut to save energy.

Only fill your kettle with the water you need. You will save both water and energy.

Using lids on your pans when cooking will save energy and help heat the contents quicker.

If you need to use a tumble drier, make sure you use a full load and keep the lint filter clean. It will keep your machine working more efficiently saving energy while also reducing any risk of fire.

Building Management Systems (BMS) are great for controlling your building systems efficiently, but only if they have been properly set up! Check your system is properly configured.

Draught excluders are a cheap way of cutting out the chill from poorly fitting doors and windows. Most are also easy to fit, a simple DIY task.

Still using tungsten, halogen or fluorescent bulbs? Changing to LED lighting can save energy and money.
